Average review score:

Old English is a big winner
Although this book is 20 years old the information and content is still fresh and up to date. I give a copy with every puppy sale as it covers every aspect of 'Bobtail' ownership. A gem of a book and one that should be on every sheepdog owners bookshelf.

Old Wood New Home
Published in Hardcover by Gibbs Smith Publisher (October, 2000)
Authors: G. Lawson, III Drinkard and Audrey Hall
Average review score:

Concrete Dreams
Lawson Drinkard takes old wood, makes new homes and sets dreams in concrete. As with his first book, RETREATS, Drinkard tantalizes readers with stories-and beautiful photographs- proving that people can make their housing visions come true. Yet the book is packed with lots of "news to use." His tips on finding housing materials and working through zoning processes are priceless. This isn't just a book for the skilled craftsperson but for anyone who dares to set dreams in motion.

Ordaining Women Deacons?: Biblical, Historical, and Rational Perspectives on the Controversial Issue of the Ordination of Women in the Church in the 21st Century
Published in Paperback by GreatUNpublished.com (January, 2002)
Author: Stephen R. Woods
Average review score:

A Review from the Editor!
In this work, I have attempted to provide a balanced treatment of this controversial subject in the church today. The book contains articles (written by a diverse group of informed individuals) which favor female ordination as well as articles which favor the ordination of qualified men only. Further, it contains informed responses to those articles, and occasionally even counter-responses from the authors of the original articles. Although I am a contributor to the work, and do hold a well considered position on this subject, I have made every effort to see that the work, as a whole, represents a very very balanced approach to this matter. I believe that end was accomplished. Thus, I recommend this work to anyone who would like to read a treatise regarding this issue which is both sincere and thorough, as well as being derived by means of diverse approaches. May God richly bless you as you study.
Rev. Dr. Steve Woods

Oscar Otter's Sticker Book: By the River and Shore

Authors: Maurice Pledger and A. J. Wood
Average review score:

A beautiful book!
This is one of the nicest sticker books we have come across. The pictures are beautiful with a nice, simple story as Oscar discovers all kinds of animal life along the river to the sea. My 5-year old loved it.

Out Of The Woods
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Minerva Press (September, 1997)
Author: Mike Hicks
Average review score:

An enthralling account of emigration to Australia.
I found this book to be an absorbing account of a family's early life in England and their eventual emigration to Australia. The main character overcame the handicap of being born unable to speak, eventually winning a public speaking competition in the Albert Hall in London. A natural disaster flooded their farm in England, and this led eventually to emigration to Australia. All the 'warts and all' problems involved in emigration were dealt with with great honesty. I believe the book should appeal to both those who have emigrated, or who have ever dreamed of doing so. Well worth reading, I commend this book to the reader.

Out of the Woods (Yale Series of Younger Poets, No 84)
Published in Hardcover by Yale Univ Pr (April, 1989)
Author: Thomas Bolt
Average review score:

Synthesis of Internal and External Landscape
Thomas Bolt's collection of poems is intellectually stimulating and emotionally satisfying; a journey through a landscape equally literal and metaphorical, rooted in nature and imagination. There is honesty in his keen vision of an unromanticized South, and yet the images linger and shift in the reader's mind with the force of myth.

Out of the Woods: The Origins of the Literary Fairy Tale in Italy and France
Published in Hardcover by Wayne State Univ Pr (November, 1997)
Author: Nancy L. Canepa
Average review score:

An interesting collection of essays
Nancy Canepa organized a conference about fairy tales and then edited this collection of essays that were presented. Included is an essay by the prolific Jack Zipes about tales such as Puss In Boots and essays about the often overlooked "Il Penatmerone" by Giambattista Basile. This collection provides a wide range of scholarship in an area of fairy tale study that is often overlooked. Thanks in part to Canepa, I hope the early literary fairy tales will be studied more and more.

Over the River and Through the Woods
Published in Paperback by Dramatist's Play Service (June, 1999)
Author: Joe Dipietro
Average review score:

A Surprising Hit with All Ages
I saw this play in Lexington, Ky. The Actor's Guild there did a fine job with the production, and the play itself is so funny and touching that I just knew I could use it in my classroom. I could identify with the main character, Nicolas, who is lucky enough to still have all 4 of his grandparents around him, even though he is nearly 30. The rest of the family has moved away, but Nicky stays behind, coming to dinner every Sunday with his wacky grandparents. Eventually Nicky tells them that he is taking a job on the other side of the country, and they all try to make him stay in their own way. It's a play about family, TENGO FAMILIGIA! It's also a play about losing the ones you love. I teach at an inner city high school. Everyone thought I was nuts, that the kids would never relate to a white advertising exec in his 30's. But the play isn't really about him. The play is about the sacrifices the previous generations have made for us, and whether or not those sacrifices were worth it. It's about how much you expect out of life, and about discovering what makes you happy. And all of us, Bosnian immigrants and troubled black teens, can relate to that.
